One month in

PF Press is now (slightly more than) a month old. So much has happened in the last few weeks it’s difficult to know where to start. Some highlights include listening to the finished recording of the first ever PF Press audiobook (to be published later this year), being sent pictures from happy customers of their pre-sale copies of Just off for a Walk the anniversary special edition arriving in the post, seeing the first PF Press books sitting on a bookshop shelf (thanks to the wonderful Shambles Bookshop here in Bristol) and of course launching this website and our social media page; introducing PF Press to the world. There have inevitably been challenges as well. Unexpected print delays have forced me to make the difficult call to delay the full distribution of Just off for a Walk until July. This gives me time to find an alternative printer and distributor without compromising on quality. In the meantime, plenty of beautiful copies of Just off for a Walk remain available directly through the PF Press website. And I’ve learned my first valuable lesson as a publisher: although quality of product is of primary importance, there are other things to consider!

Most of all, the last month has confirmed what I already believed: I live in the beautiful, creative and supportive city. PF Press has been given a warm welcome, with Bristol booksellers, publishers and authors reaching out on social media and in real life to wish it well. The next month will be just as busy and exciting. I’ll be introducing you to the insanely talented narrator of the aforementioned audiobook, and revealing details of the collaboration. I’ll be popping up in a few more wonderful Bristol bookshops, pristine copies in hand. And, of course the shiny new version of Just off for a Walk will go global. I’ll also be giving away some signed copies at some point. There’ll be a belated launch event of some description over the summer as well. I’ll keep you posted.
